The Outsiders: What the EARTH Needs Now is Love sweet Love!

What the Earth needs now, is LOVE sweet LOVE.
It's the only thing that there's just too little of...

Last year we decided that Earth DAY (April 22) or even Earth MONTH (April) was not enough time for us project based explorers to focus on deeply appreciating our one precious home planet.

So, we are turning to the holiday of love and affection (Valentine's Day) as our kick off for a six month commitment to cultivating a local learning community focused on climate action.  All in the name of love.

A very specific name of love:
Bio•phil•ia
(bahy-oh-fil-ee-uh) noun
an innate and genetically determined love for the natural world
felt universally by human kind

Join us
Friday February 14th
at The Outsiders Ranch
and demonstrate your love for the natural world
by taking up the gauntlet at our first annual

REVEL WITH A CAUSE
Fire and Ice Climate Action Kick Off!

We will:

...with pomp and circumstance declare our personal climate action aspiration for the next six months.

...create an upcycled lantern to keep our flame of intention alive long after we light it!

...share an earth friendly feast.

And, finally, revel in our newly declared aspirations....
we're thinking kids dance party - oh yeah!

And that is all just the beginning...

The after party is a six month commitment to live your personal challenge to the fullest so that we can circle back on August 1st for more revelry to celebrate our climate action feats of strength and glory!

In those 6 months between setting our intentions and attaining our individual goals - it is our aim to as often as possible host a  "Fridays for Future" climate action afternoon!  It's official.  We're putting down central Oregon roots and are looking to grow a tree-hugging, dirt-worshipping, earth loving, climate action tribe.  We hope that includes YOU!

The Outsiders: We've already seen our shadows and we're ready to spring into action.

This Imbolc we're launching a new feature to The Warthog School blog.
Although it is joining the ranks of other features like The Craft and Mother's Nature Journal, I have a feeling, that much like the children who are creating it, this vision will soon prove itself worthy of standing alone rather than being a sub-header.  Introducing:

Who: So far, a 10 year old boy, a 9 year old girl, and a 46 year old mom struggling to keep up.

Wanted: A multi-age homeschool pack that is in high-energy pursuit of expeditionary, project based, climate-action focused, outdoor, hands-on, nature-loving learning! (That's the What.)

When: Wednesdays

Where:  The Outsiders Ranch, Sunriver, Oregon

Why: This answer will be made evident as our journey unfolds by the kids themselves!  Although our pack of Outsiders might look tough and seem too busy being verbs to bother writing any down...this feature will highlight all of their strengths by publishing what's happening on the inside.  Through stories, art, celebrations, and calls-to-action they will share what it feels like to be permanently "on-strike" and engaging a climate-action counter-culture.

However they were encouraged (or discouraged) to the door, this is the story of kids that somehow got the message that they "didn't fit in" so they opted out.   The opted OUTSIDE to be exact.  Outside the classroom.  Outside "the box".  Outside the common culture.  Outside the front door.

We're featuring true stories about what happens when you brave to reclaim "deficits" and differences as the powerful and purposeful attributes for which the world is waiting.  We're celebrating holistic education as it naturally arises; within the time we take to understand and accept our whole-selves and in turn those with whom we share this precious planet.  One person, one pine tree, one damsel fly at a time...
